Contact Report - Hannah Nunn

Ok that’s fine. At least my shop orders will have calmed down a bit by then. I’m currently making orders for other shops and Christmas exhibitions you see.

Anytime that week of the 7th would be ok. Tuesday or Wednesday would be the best days. I’m sure there will be stuff to do if you wanted to lend a hand. Then we can have a nice chat about everything whilst still getting the work done!

Let me know when

Hannah

Hi Hannah

Thanks for your reply :) :) an i understand christmas is obviously a busy time for you currently. however i require 3 portfolio visits prior to the end of my project in december unfortunately. so if at all possible i would like to come up around the 7th of december yet if this is inconvenient to you i will speak to my tutor an see if she will allow me to do it via email if i were to send you a digital portfolio. Then we can always arrange for one after christmas too. Alternatively, if you need a hand with sorting things out at your shop/studio be it with packaging or just general bits and bobs i could always come up and lend a helping hand if its busy times and then bring some work to show you at the same time. Just let me know what your able to do, thanks again for replying.

Hi Naomi,

Sorry for my slow response. I’m having a mega busy time.

I can certainly have a look at your portfolio. When would you like to do this? If at all possible could it be after Christmas as time is very scarce right now!

If you need it to be before though I am sure I can squeeze you in!

Let me know

Hannah

Dear Hannah

My name is Naomi Obbard and I'm a 3rd year surface design student currently studying my degree in Stockport. As its my last year i have been focusing my design work and practitioner skills in the area I want to Pursue When i Have graduated. I have narrowed It down to Lighting as this is something i am passionate about and am inspired by the unlimited ways it can take your design work.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to visit your stall at the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair. However, I would like to ask your assistance With my work an if at all possible visit your shop/studio for a portfolio visit and show you some examples of my work. This is a compulsory part of my corse and i feel that you will be able to offer the advice i am looking for to take my work further The experience and input will b very beneficial.. In addition to this I would like to offer my assistance in your studio or shop too help out so as i can gain experience in this field. I have previously worked alongside designer maker Jenny Bland and work as a volunteer at the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair With Angela and Anne-Marie Last year.

Kate Brunt Decoupage bird Houses

I was looking an a blog the other day and came across these beautiful decoupage bird houses by designer kate Brunt. i love the simple idea of such a unique product, very original. Also the use of bright colours is very appealing and would look great in almost any garden or outdoor space.

Pattern Product

I sourced a lampshade making material company on the internet called Martin Dannell. There a family run business and have been involved in the lighting industry for over 60 years. They supply a wide variety of materials such as laminates. rings sets, making kits fabrics and papers. there products have all been tested by the lighting association and have passed the 650C glow wire test, they have copies on there website. I bought several materials from them and was pleasantly impressed. The delivery time was quick around 5 working days and it all arrived in good condition. i did have to pay £7 on top o my order for the delivery but if i was to place an order over £70 this would be free. as you can in the images above i have made my own prototype lampshade from the materials i bought. The paper is just scrape paper to show effect and the way its fastened to the wire isn't the best but the company offers other alternatives that i would defiantly use next time.

Pattern To Product

I sent a sample to design off to a print company called Vista Print, who have a wide range of promotional products available for gifts or use in business. Including postage these 2 mugs cost me £12.48. the quality of the print was very good and the colours where all vibrant, even the lines had good quality and have a smooth finish. If i were to use this company again or have printed ceramics as one of my final products i would chose a different more classy style of cup rather than a basic mug. I feel it will give the product a more professional quality .
